1/3/2011 ACT,
Inc. Acquires KeyTrain
to Offer Workforce
Curriculum
Chattanooga, TN (January
3, 2011) – ACT, Inc.,
the organization that
administers the ACT
college entrance exam,
is leveraging
Chattanooga services and
technologies to enhance
its work readiness
system.
The Iowa-based
non-profit recently
acquired local workforce
development company
Thinking Media’s
KeyTrain®
system in a move to
incorporate KeyTrain’s
curriculum and training
offerings into its ACT
Work Readiness System.
The acquisition,
announced December 15,
will bring KeyTrain
assets and employees
under the ACT umbrella.
“Becoming part of ACT’s
Workforce Readiness
System will create
synergies that will be
very beneficial to our
clients and our mission
to raise the skills of
the nation’s workforce,”
says Sheila Boyington,
president of Thinking
Media. “At the same
time, operating KeyTrain
as a separate division
will allow us to remain
nimble and responsive.”
KeyTrain is a complete
interactive training
system for career
readiness skills, based
on ACT’s WorkKeys®
assessment system and
the National Career
Readiness Certificate.
The system’s five
components – job
analysis, assessments,
training and curriculum,
certification and
research and analytics –
help job seekers,
employees and employers
identify skill gaps and
improve their workplace
skills.
Though the acquisition
marks a significant
change in KeyTrain’s
national reach, its
corporate staff and
headquarters will remain
in Chattanooga. The
shift is expected to
have little effect on
the company’s day-to-day
relationship with local
partners and clients.
Boyington says the
entire KeyTrain team is
excited to expand the
system’s offerings under
the ACT banner and will
continue providing
excellent service to
clients.
