ACT KeyTrain® Results

Claremore High School in Claremore, OK, leads the state in providing for-credit courses with the ACT WorkKeys assessments and the ACT KeyTrain program as key components. In 2010, an initial 2010 35-participant study measured performance in pre- and post-tests on ACT WorkKeys assessments in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. The program included the pre-test followed by a nine-week program of instruction (including at least one class period per week) using ACT KeyTrain courses covering the same content. The results were promising:

  • 86% of participants increased their performance by at least one Level Score on all three of the ACT WorkKeys tests (97% in Applied Mathematics, 89% in Locating Information, and 100% in Reading for Information).
  • 60% of participants gained two levels or more in Reading for Information; 54% gained two levels or more in Applied Mathematics, and 51% gained two levels or more in Locating Information.
  • 94% of students at the post-test achieved a Level Score of 3 or better, qualifying them for the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate.
  • 6% or fewer failed to qualify for an ACT NCRC at the post-test, compared to a 13% national rate and 12% Oklahoma rate of non-qualification.
