KeyTrain was designed from the beginning for the WorkKeys employment system. The curriculum elements in KeyTrain were derived directly from ACT's Targets for Instruction. Whether or not your organization is using the WorkKeys assessment, KeyTrain users benefit from ACT's extensive research into the most critical skills needed for today's workforce. For organizations that do use WorkKeys, KeyTrain assures that you can provide proven, effective curriculum for every requirement of the WorkKeys skills.

The KeyTrain system is not designed to replace a traditional K-12 education. Rather it is designed to help a person to renew and expand the skills that they may have learned earlier but not put to use. KeyTrain also helps the user to learn to utilize and express these skills in the types of practical situations that they may see in typical jobs.

KeyTrain software is a multi-sensory multimedia experience. KeyTrain combines text, graphics, animation and audio to engage learners in a number of different styles. The lessons include a full sound track. The sound track is especially helpful to those with reading difficulties.

Each topic includes a review of the skill, opportunities to practice the skill, and then exercises that apply the skill in real-world applications. These include both simple skill demonstrations and higher-level activities that require more complex problem-solving abilities. Context-sensitive feedback and solution keys help the student to gain further understanding.

In KeyTrain, the material being taught is the focus, not the computer. The screen layout and access to the program is simple. Our experience in producing a variety of computer-based training has shown that complex, layered windows and access requirements detract from the learning experience. Unlike some other products, KeyTrain provides a simple and consistent interface. This improves the confidence of the student, not reduces it.
