The Challenges Facing the One-Stops
One-Stop centers face a variety of challenges, including establishing a system of assessing the skills of
clients, matching clients to appropriate jobs, and bridging skills gaps
between existing clients and desirable jobs. The WorkKeys® employment
system and KeyTrain curriculum system form a comprehensive, validated system for
achieving these goals. WorkKeys and KeyTrain can form the backbone of a
systematic approach to assessing, matching and training clients in a
One-Stop environment.
KeyTrain and WorkKeys address the major challenges
facing today's One-Stop systems by providing:
A coherent system for
matching the right clients to the right jobs, and
A system for improving
the basic employment skills of clients.
This system uses quantitative
and EEOC-compliant measurements to compare the basic workplace skills
required by individual jobs to the skills possessed by individual
people. This system can allow the One-Stop to make more sound judgments
about how well an individual client is prepared to be successful in a
job opening or career. Even if businesses in your community are not
using the entire WorkKeys system, KeyTrain's occupational job profile
database of WorkKeys profiled jobs can help One-Stops match clients to careers in which they
are more likely to succeed, or to identify and reduce skills gaps for
careers which they desire.
